Just imagine, You have a spacecraft which is the fastest carrier one into the universe and you start to travel towards the galaxy with a modern telescope 🔭 along with you and that galaxy is located at 65 Million light years (MY) away from the earth 

( The duration of your whole journey is 1 day just ignore Einstein relativity theories ) 

i.e. 

1 light year = 9.46 × 10^12 KM

That means, light travels 94 thousand and 6 hundreds crores of kilometres in a year.

As light travels 3 lakhs kilometres in a second 

So, 24hours × 60minutes × 60seconds × 365days = 31536000 seconds / year

31536000 × 300000 = 94 thousand and 6 hundreds crores (KM)

In that case, 9.46 × 10^12 × 65 Million Years = 

6.149 × 10^20 i.e, that galaxy is 6.149 × 10^20 KM away from us and let's assume this distance as ' x ' .

x = 6.149 × 10^20 (KM)

Now imagine, you entered into one of the planets which is revolving around one of the stars in that galaxy itself.

Imagine the planet on which you stepped has alien colonization, they welcomed you and you had a great discussion with those planetary inhabitants of aliens there.

Suddenly one of the alien 👽 asked you to show our mother earth 🌍 through that telescope 🔭 which you took there and both of you started to watch towards our mother earth by using that modern telescope.

Probably, you think that you watch the present conditions of the earth but, that's not the truth rather you can see the 65 Million years ago conditions of earth i.e, you are going to see dinosaurs 🦕 and other reptiles rather than the present human inhabitants on the earth also, you may see the KT - extinction ( Cretaceous and Tertiary Asteroid event occurrence ) also, 

Deccan volcanic event too that occurred on the earth at the same time 

( 65 MY ago ) and that was the reason for extinction of all large reptiles on the earth, this is all because as light took to travel ' x ' distance ( The distance above mentioned as x ) from our mother earth to that planet.

you only see every object after the reflection of light on the object and then reflected light travels to your naked eye so, here in this scenario the reflected light from the earth took exactly 65 Million years to reach that planet on which you stepped.
